Optomap saving sight!

From our patient:

‘I would like to sincerely thank Kelcher Optometrists practice for my thorough eye examination which detected a substantial retinal tear. I had no symptoms and was at the practice for a routine check-up. It was their professionalism and excellent tools (Optomap machine) that enabled an early diagnosis and emergency referral to the eye hospital for surgery. This was a potentially sight-threatening condition. I am so grateful that the early diagnosis and referral helped preserve my vision.

I would also like to thank the team on the shop floor – I was in shock at the diagnosis and the need for emergency eye surgery. Their customer service (and the cup of tea) were second to none and they helped calm me!

I had a swift referral and needed two further eye surgeries. I am a very queasy person and anxious about most medical procedures so if I can do it anyone can! The surgery was under local anaesthetic but once the few minutes of administering the anaesthetic had passed I didn’t feel a thing! I had no pain and achieved fantastic results. Due to the need for two subsequent cataract surgeries I now have 20/20 distance vision for the first time in over 40 years!

I am so glad Kelcher Optometrists were able to do an Optomap scan on me – something I will continue to have in regular eye check-ups to keep a close watch on my eye health.
